My grandmother used mix the fried onions in with the rest of the ingredients then top with the cheddar cheese and the texture was divine

Can I recommend a couple of tweaks to make it extra delicious? Half Cremini mushrooms and half Shiitake mushrooms, fried shallots instead of onions, and if you don’t like that, green beans amandine is my preferred thanksgiving green bean side dish!

Do you blanch the green beans all the way, or partially so it can finish cooking in the oven?

I had Honeybake’s green bean casserole one time and I absolutely loved it. I tried finding the recipe and all where similar with canned gbs and mushrooms soup. It was aweful. I’m going to try this

It looks good, but I think you should have sautéed the mushrooms a lot longer first before adding liquid.
