Thank you Sally! I've lived in Western Canada too long -- "Nap Raising with a Fuller's Teasel" had no more meaning than "Colourless Green Ideas Sleep Furiously". Now I can visit home once more unafraid of English sentences that are so imbued with english-ness as to reveal my secret wanderings in far off foreign places.

And I learned a new thing too. Bless you! Your the best!

Short and sweet and wonderfully informative. Thank you!

omg that was something that was lost in my memory until then. The first job I had when I left school in the early 80's was in a woolen mill making Onkaparinga blankets. We used teasel sticks on patches we repaired to fluff them back up again!

Very cool! I found some teasel plants growing wild, I tested it and it does seem to work, although I would probably need several teasels as they sort of break apart over time as you do it. I want to use it to make the inside of my wool mittens soft. The teasels are spikey and hard when dried. I'm in Canada btw.

Any chance you know how to use teasel for dye? I've read it can make blue color but can't figure it out.

This is amazing! They weren't ever used for carding were they? I've heard that they were, but I remain skeptical JB

I shall put my cat brush away and find a teasel. I would also love to find knitting instructions for one of those hats!
