With winter drawing in I think it’s the perfect time to have a party. Over the next few weeks I’ll be showing you some simple and tasty party food and canapés to impress your friends with. Some classic, some new, and all delicious!

The combination of eggs with the sweet and salty crunchy topping works so well. By swapping out chicken eggs for quails, it turns this unusual breakfast dish into a canapé fit for any party.

Ingredients:
12 quail eggs
salt
caster sugar

Method:
Boil eggs for 2 minutes, then plunge into ice cold water.
Peel eggs and slice in half lengthways.
Sprinkle a pinch of salt onto each yolk, followed by a generous pinch of sugar.
Blowtorch the eggs until the sugar has caramelised.
Serve immediately.
