पुराणों में नूह अलै० का वाकिया विस्तार से मनु नाम से आया है। लेकिन एक जगह
(भविष्य पुराण - प्रतिसर्गपर्व) संस्कृत में न्यूह
दिया गया है। अब के हिंदी अनुवाद में उसे नूह ही लिखा जाता है।

"नूह या न्यूह" शब्द की मूलधातु:
संस्कृत में नु का अर्थ नाव होता है और उसी से यह शब्द बना, जिसका अर्थ है नाव वाला।

" यहां तक कि हमारा आदेश आ चुका और वह तन्नूर उबल पड़ा तो हमने कहा कि नौका में हर प्रकार के जोड़ों में से दो को

कुरआन यह बताता है कि तन्नूर से पानी उबालना शुरू हुआ था और यहां से तूफान शुरू हुआ था । " तन्नूर शब्द अरबी भाषा का नहीं है। फारसी में इसका अर्थ रोटी पकाए जाने वाला तनूर है। अधिकतर भाष्यकारो ने इस शब्द को इन्हीं अर्थों में इस्तेमाल किया है और कुछ ने तन्नूर से अभिप्राय ज़मीन की सतह लिया है। लेकिन " तन्नूर" से पहले कुरआन में ' अलिफ लाम ' इस्तेमाल हुआ है जिसका मतलब यह है कोई खास तन्नुर ।
तन्नूर नाम का शहर, केरल, मलाप्पुरम में समुद्र किनारे पर है।

The Yajurveda contains the following prayer:
"Lead us to the good path and remove the sin that makes us stray and wander."

Kalki Avatar and Muhammad Sahab is a 1960 book written by Indian Sanskrit scholar Ved Prakash Upadhyay and published by "Saraswat Vedanta Prakash Sangathan". The main aspect of the book is showing the similarities between Islamic and Hindu religious texts between the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the Hindu avatar Kalki.
The text is significant in establishing the chronology of the Kalki idea to be from post-7th century, probably the 9th or 10th century. Lopez states that the Buddhist text likely borrowed it from Hindu mythology.
The 7th century is the period from 601 (DCI) through 700 (DCC) in accordance with the Julian calendar in the Common Era. The spread of Islam and the Muslim conquests began with the unification of Arabia by Prophet Muhammad starting in 622.

* आयत 37 - और हमारी निगरानी में हमारी प्रकाशना के मुताबिक एक नाव बनाना शुरू करदो। और देखो जिन लोगों ने ज़ुल्म किया है उनके लिए मुझसे कोई सिफारिश न करना, ये सारे के सारे अब डूबने वाले हैं।

* आयत 40 - यहां तक कि हमारा आदेश आ गया और वह तन्नुर उबल पड़ा तो हमने कहा, " हर प्रकार के जानवरो का एक -एक जोड़ा नाव में रखलो, अपने घरवालों को भी - सिवाय उन लोगो के जिनके बारे में पहले बताया जा चुका है - उसमें सवार करा दो और उन लोगों को भी जो ईमान लाए हैं।" और थोड़े ही लोग थे जो नूह के साथ ईमान लाए थे।

* आयत 41 - नूह ने कहा, " सवार हो जाओ इसमें, अल्लाह ही के नाम से है इसका चलना भी और इसका ठहराना भी, मेरा रब बड़ा क्षमाशील और दयावान हैं।"

~ ह० नूह अलै० और उनके ' जलप्रलय ' की घटना विस्तार के साथ पुराणों में आई हैं।

' मनु' शब्द बहुत से हिंदू धार्मिक प्राचीन महान व्यक्तियों के लिए इस्तेमाल हुआ है ( जैसे स्वयंभूमनु, वैवस्वत मनु आदि जो कि एक उपाधि या title है)। वेदों, पुराणों, तथा अन्य धर्मग्रंथों में सब से ज्यादा विस्तार से जिस मनु का वर्णन है, वह महाजल प्रलय वाले मनु है ( नूह अलैहिस्सलाम) । वेदों में हजरत नूह अलै० का प्रसंग 'मनु ' के नाम से 75 बार आया है।

मसलन:
मत्स्य पुराण, अ० 1 श्लोक 29 से 35
- " तब भगवान, मनु से यूं बोले - ठीक है, ठीक है! तुम ने मुझे भलीभांति पहचान लिया है। भूपाल! थोड़े ही समय में पर्वत, वन, और उपवन के सहित यह पृथ्वी जलमग्न हो जायेगी। इस कारण पृथ्वीपते ! सम्पूर्ण जीव -समूहों की रक्षा करने के लिए समस्त देवगणों द्वारा इस नौका का निर्माण किया गया है। सुव्रत! .... जितने भी प्रकार के जीव है, उन सभी अनाथों को इस नौका में चढ़ा कर इन सब की सुरक्षा करना।"

मत्स्य पुराण, अ० : 2 श्लोक 14, 16
- प्रलय काल में जब इसी प्रकार सारी पृथ्वी एकार्णव में निमग्न हो जाएगी और तुम्हारी सृष्टि का प्रारंभ होगा, तब में वेदों का पुनः प्रवर्तन करूंगा तथा मनु भी वहीं स्थित रह कर भगवान वासुदेव की कृपा से प्राप्त हुए योग ( तपस्या और साधना) का तब तक अभ्यास करते रहे, जब तक पूर्व सूचित प्रलय का समय उपस्थित न हुआ ।"

~ यही किस्सा बाइबल, तौरेत में भी मौजूद है।
