I often find it less user friendly (in terms of backup) that the pics in iCloud get deleted when I delete on my iPhone, while google photos can just keep backing up everything even I removed it from my phone. I’m thinking to add google photo subscription on top of my iCloud one

Nice review! The option that Amazon has, showing pictures on your television with a fire stick/TV. Google has it in their home app and chromecast, you can set up showing Google photos albums / favorites as screensaver for your chromecast. I like that a lot!

honestly the ability to store your photos as a file backup in folders is a feature google and apple is missing and for me the biggest selling point of OneDrive. Sure a gallery with effects is nice but thats not a backup, especially as there is no easy way to work around that with apple or google. Google take out is terrible and Apple doesn't let you export live photos.

Hi there.. I have both Android and Ios.. And what has surprised me.. Is both services actually aren't great to use when you need to put your photos onto the Pc or something. Google for example needs me to go to the website, find this difficult to find selection, then download batches into 2 gigabyte email files - it was a friggin nightmare these emails can take about a couple of days come thru

I feel like reviewers gloss over the actual usage. You know, what happens when you actually need your photos.

I got onedrive and it backed up all my photos into one giant folder which I hate. Is there one that back ups directly into the folders as organized on my phone?

What about album management? I have experience only with Google and it's terrible. You can't even see photos that are not assigned to any album, you can only see them by date (all of them) or by albums, so if a photo is not assigned to any album, the only way to see it is by viewing all photos. Imagine if you have 100k+ photos

What this is missing is the fact that these days many of us *already* have amazon prime, and with that now comes FREE Unlimited photo storage (including the huge raw and tiff!), so yeah, pricewise this is by far the best option now. Only holds 5 GB of video though, that's a bit sad. But for me, I'm not even storing them there. I have a (free) Piwigo install on my unraid NAS, which is much better than all the other options. You do have to consider an offsite backup option for that though, in case of a tornado or fire or asteroid hit ;-) But you also have to consider IF that offsite backup will hold after such disasters. It should not be in a nearby country, even.

The only problem I have with google photo is I can't create folders to organise the pictures. I have also read that if you uploud photos from google photos to your laptop desktop for example, you lose all the metadata of the picture and it will have the date of uploud instead.

You cannot recommend Google Photo any more.

This was very well explained but I’m still confused with iCloud. Google will let me delete photos from my camera roll as those will be saved in the cloud (more free storage for me!) but apple won’t, so I don’t see the point. If I reach my iphone storage limit what good can be iCloud? I’m new to iOS.

Dropbox is a pain as well!!!. I have been looking for something else so watched this video with great interest. Dropbox only auto uploads photos when it feels like it. Sometimes when I open Dropbox on the PC it will suddenly start uploading photos from months ago. I would like something that removes the photos from the phone and upload it to the cloud automatically. Any suggestions? I have Google file stream and One drive as well.

Thanks for the video. Also just a quick note with plex you can limit who can see what folders so security is good. It relies more on user organization than AI. So if you're a person who wants to manually organize your photos with albums it's more powerful that way. EX: in Google photos I can't make an album and upload say my wife photos just to that album. There really is no manual organization which makes it hard to rely completely on AI to find and old photo that AI miss labeled. Not to mention I can't share my storage with my wife and she see all the albums I spent so much time making on Google Photos.

Is the a dedicated Win10 app/program for Google Photos or is it just drag and drop from PC to web browser? Great video btw.

You don’t seem to be aware of Network Attached Storage, NAS. I use Synology NAS and can if I wish access my 230, 000 photos remorptely. Mostly I just store them on my NAS and 5 other hard drives, plus online Synology storage. I will be putting one of my NASs at my brothers home so as not to have my storage just in one place. I would rather trust my equipment than hope that the likes ok Google can store them well. I also burn my photos to Blu-Ray as an extra precaution.

Google photos is no doubt winner.
I have lifetime 1tb onedrive account. But to be honest, it is just a storage. Google photos is way more ahead all others feature-wise.
