I liked when Google had unlimited storage for pictures and so I'll probably be checking out Amazon as a potential replacement.

Hi Pete,
after google decided to remove unlimited storage by replacing it with an embarrassing 5tb per user (with a minimum of 5 users) I had to revolutionize my entire storage and data protection workflow.
At the moment the cloud where I am storing the most important and sensitive data (the ones I would like to remain eternal) is Cubbit, inside their Cubbit Cells (I have a 4TB cell).
My mac and my external drives with Backblaze while my pc works with iDrive (10TB).
Still on iDrive I am recreating the folders containing my photo sets to be able to share them with the models.
My photo backups go through iCloud, Google Photo, Prime, iDrive Photo and Photo Mobile (synology).
Data older than a few years are archived in 3.5-inch HD and backed up on Backblaze ...
This is all from Italy :)

I'm here cause I learnt a hard lesson. I didn't back up any of my stuff and my phone had a software issue the only way to fix it was wipe the phone. And NONE of my stuff was backed up.
Great video review. 💯

I tried all of them, but I stick to Google photos. It's just better for everything ( organisation, sharing...).
The tech I plan to buy later this year is a SSD nvme to extend the storage of my laptop.

Just purchased a Synology NAS and it’s been very easy to set up backups for photos, videos, documents, etc.

Perfect place to store my definitely legally acquired movie catalogue too!

I've been in google photos ever since... ever. And since I have a amazon prime subscription I'm now inclined to give a try?! and about I drive. How safe it is on the long run, I wonder?

Great video! I have been using Icloud for quite some time and will probably just stick with that! I tried out Idrive and wasn't a fan of the lack of features and slow upload process. Congratulations on almost reaching 50K 😊

Amazon Drive will be discontinued after 31st Jan 2023. As usual, they will move to Amazon Photo service which is subscription based with only 5gb free for Amazon prime users. Things are usually "free" only till there is a dependency on the service.

To mention a product other than cell phones. I am really looking forward to my vacuum cleaner robot! Hopefully it doesn't just get stuck somewhere for a long time. Hopefully you will soon reach 50, 000, the quality of your videos is great, especially the long-term reviews!

One thing they don't tell you on IDrive photos is that the photos uploaded from the computer (the 1 tb option) do NOT display in the gallery as they do when uploaded to Google Photos. So if you take photos on a DSLR or other camera and upload them to IDrive it is only a backup service, with no photo viewer. Only the photos on your phone show up in the viewer. Go I agree with Pete that the best solution might be to keep Google Photos with all its features and only use IDrive photo as a backup for originals or large videos that go beyond the Google photos 250meg limitation.

Excellent video Pete! The tech I'm looking at investing in this year is primarily cloud storage for backup which your videos have been greatly informative. Looking forward to more content from you!

Wow; congratulations 🎊 on over 35000 subscribers, I'm looking for an iPhone for my dementia mother, that's driving me crazy asking me for one because she wants to see the people on face time.

For iDrive, is the $0.99 first year for 1 tb ($10 for consecutive years) still available? I can't find it anywhere. Now I see 5tb for $60 the first year.

I am looking to decide on and purchase extra storage for photos and videos. I've used google photos, amazon photos, and icloud, and cannot decide. After watching this video I plan to look at extra iCloud storage and iDrive.

I was considering an iPhone 14 when it's released but wouldn't mind winning an iPhone 13 Pro 😀
