Hey Chaps! Do you always buy the latest TV, or older models on sale? 🤔

Had my LG C8 for over three years now and it is still the best TV I have ever owned. I am keeping my eye on the new QD-OLED TVs coming out from Sony and Samsung this year and depending on the price I may replace the C8. However I also kinda want to wait and see how Samsung's QD-OLED panels last. I have had issues with Samsung QLEDs in the past so being a little cautious.

And for anyone wondering no I have no issues with burn in/image retention after 3+ years. Even with my kid playing thousands of hours of Switch over the past two years of the pandemic 😂Seriously unless you're watching 10+ hours of BBC News a day on it you don't need to worry about burn in on an OLED and if that is your use case then an OLED is a waste, just get a cheap LCD for watching the news 😜

Oh and get yourself either an Apple TV 4K or an Nvidia Shield Pro as nobody should be using any smart TVs built in OS other than to change the input source.

Great long term review and personally I’m glad to hear you still recommend this tv. I’ve just bought the 55” G1 and it’s amazing! I even got it calibrated and approved by Vincent, so super happy.

I am enjoying my 65” G1, however I do miss the high brightness of Samsung & Samsung’s much better anti-glare used on their TV’s. The G1 picks up light from a window or lamps like a mirror. The G1 is a gaming monster. 🔥

Here in the US TVs are back to regular price at popular retailers. We've the Super Bowl coming up. They'll be on sale again by then and that's when I'm getting the C1. G1 may also drop in price but it's still more expensive than the C1. For me it's all about balancing quality and cost.

I don't even have the money to buy half the stuff you review but I love just watching your videos because they're so well put together.

Just got one of these. It's my first OLED and my first HDR TV. It is an AMAZING television! I'll be happy for years. Not sure what else I could even want from a TV honestly. Will probably use this until it falls apart.

I bought the LG C1 65" back in July and it is my favorite TV ever. It is noticeably brighter than the C9 it replaced in my living room.

I went from my LG EG9600B to the LG So many improvements! (Dolby Vision, input lag, brightness, eARC, 120hz of course, etc)
I have mine in the basement, so my scenario wouldn't need to be any brighter.
Still one of the best tv's out there.
The price isn't for the faint of heart and I have recommended the C1 in it's place for people. (Which they haven't looked back. since)
C1 is sitll an amazing tv for its price tho!

I was gonna get a 77 C1 because the g1 didn’t seem worth the increased price but I found a 77 G1 for $100 more than a c1. Seemed like a no brainer

I have the C1 65. Love playing PS5 games and watching movies on it! Not even mad the new C2 is 20% brighter since it's plenty bright for me.

I set fire stick to my home screen, it's much better and less cluttered, I am not a lover of a few things on this TV but managed to disable them, the first thing is the TPC and GSR setting that can only be accessed with a service remote through the on start button, keying in 0413 this takes off that auto dimming that the TV does annoyingly if a film is static for over 90 seconds or if a film is very dark for a long period of time, this will stop the TV from dimming even further, also the peak brightness setting on the tvs main menu is a bit deceiving and from what I've experimented with, the peak brightness will play a huge part on how you view content, experts say to set it to high and never really touch on this feature, it maybe the most accurate switched to high, and it is the default setting however Iam finding it switched to high on Dolby vision content extremely bright, if like me, you like to watch most films in the evening so you may want to play around with this, try switching it off or setting it to low, also colour default at 50 for Dolby Vision appears too bright and too colourful for Dolby Vision, so try peak brightness on low with a colour setting of 36. Experts also say to adjust the oled pixel brightness slider depending on your rooms environment but this will not prevent eye fatigue, this only ever so slightly and gradually dampens the picture without loss of details, it is actually the peak brightness setting that will make the night and day difference, it's what will put the glare on for certain films and also remove it if its not your thing and you prefer a more natural look to your content, OK so for HDR content the peak brightness is OK set to high however there are a few films that just look terrible with this set to high, Ghostbusters 2 and Close Encounters of the third kind, you may want to switch peak brightness to off for your eyes to enjoy it comfortably, there might be a few more in my collection that I may have to tinker with but leaving it on high for the most part is advisable, such films like Die Hard and speed in HDR set to high peak brightness and most hdr discs look pretty good, otherwise these much older films that don't peak much illuminous or contrast will just look flat and dull, I have had the G1 for a couple of months now and Iam now satisfied with my settings, for those of you that might be interested I have provided them below, have a play and see what you think, trust your eye not what's fed to you via an experts bit of equipment, I take preference over what is accurate,

SDR settings for Blu ray
Oled pix bright: 68
Contrast: 85
Brighness: 55
Colour: 36
Warm: 36/50
Peak brightness: Off

HDR setting:
Oled pix bright: 75
Contrast 85
Brighness 60
Colour 45
Warm 50
Peak brightness :High

Dolby Vision settings

Oled pix bright: 75
Contrast 85
Brightness 60
Colour 36
Warm 36
Peak Brighness. Low

Cinema screen on for HDR and Dolby Vision

For Dolby Vision you might want to try switch on the AI settings, this dosent make content brighter but rather more works best for Dolby Vision IQ, so will find better shadow details, I noticed this provides a better depth in clouds on films such as Cliffhanger and Tremors, it's subtle but there's no harm in leaving these settings on as they will just auto detect the right gamma depending on the content so it will produce it on the best possible way

OK thanks for reading hope this helps get the best of a rather excellent TV,

yeah, it is 20% brighter, technically speaking, but in real life content it's not really noticeable so with C1 dirt cheap right now, seems to make more sense to go for a 77" C1 than a 65" G1.

Just bought a G1 65 inch over C1 because G1 gets 5 year panel warranty, C1 does not (in US anyway) and it comes with an ATSC tuner, and I like OTA as a fallback if cable/internet goes out. I didn't wall mount but used the Sanus pedestal table mount which allowed me to raise it to clear the Samsung HW-Q950A soundbar and it also rotates, great for access to the rear inputs and to shift viewing angle when full house of people viewing. Plus being able to rotate it/tilt it helps fix glare when turning off lights isn't feasible. WebOS6 is laggy, my old LG 60UH8500 runs WebOS 3 and is much faster. My biggest gripe is the failure of the "magic" remote to act as a universal control. Despite others with my cable company's set top box having it work just fine, mine doesn't and LGs response has been to declare the box incompatible, despite many others using the exact same box successfully with the remote. Somehow with me it's incompatible despite others being successful and LG washes hands. The device detection took 7 or 8 tries before it identified and the magic remote would work a LG blueray as well, but even that is laggy. That process is not solid. Thankfully my Harmony remote works flawlessly with it (until Harmony shuts down their servers...) It'll be 5 or more years before I replace this so waiting for a 2022 G2 made zero sense, too expensive when they come out and waiting 9 more months for lower price? I also am in the US but have until Feb 19 to return or get price match, so maybe save a few quid that way. But buying 2021's best is no different than buying last year's car model. It's still the value it was when it was the star product and is now cheaper.

Thank you for the video. It was very informative. I especially liked the fact that you included a C1 vs G1 comparison as those two sets were the exact ones I was considering.

I've got what you might call a 'regular-sized' room and 55" is perfect for me! Still, this looks amazing.

Brought the 65" C1 for £1700. Looked at the G1 but didn't want to wall mount it right now and went for the cheaper option. C1 still an incredible TV however.

Mannn I don’t know what I would do without your videos. Forgot to mention, I bought the 48” C1 and am loving it. LG really does make the best quality tvs I feel.
