not sure if somebody mentioned this before... But the elephant Lion metaphor to understand encoder/decoder relationship needs one more step to make sense.
After the student learns to draw an elephant,
missing step -- > " we teach him how to draw a Lion"
Now, when we draw an elephant in a certain pose, the student should be able to draw a lion in a matching pose.

Thanks! This video was very helpful. There was a bit of confusion with some things like the "up arrow" on the keyboard in the diagram but it is actually the right hand shift key that has the little up arrow on the American English keyboard.
