Chinese Tone Pairs : The Top 5 Most Difficult Ones

Показать описание
Not All Tone Pairs Are Equally Difficult To Produce. We’ve talked throughout the course about the 19 possible tone pairs for two character words (remember, it is isn’t 20 because there is no such thing as 3rd Tone - 3rd Tone).
They are NOT all created equal to a native English speaker. For example, 2nd Tone - 4th Tone is fairly easy to articulate, and its likely because it has an “Up-Down” variation we often use in our intonations in English. However, the following five tone pairs are tougher, so pay attention to these:
1st Tone - 4th Tone
吃饭 chīfàn - to eat a meal
知道 zhīdào - to know
4th Tone - 1st Tone
唱歌 chànggē - to sing
上班 shàngbān - to go to work
3rd Tone - 2nd Tone
小时 xiǎoshí - hour
美国 měiguó - USA
2nd Tone - 3rd Tone
你好 níhǎo - hello
没有 méiyǒu - not have
3rd Tone - 4th Tone
米饭 mǐfàn - cooked rice
跑步 pǎobù - to run, to jog
