GERD can be due to technique as well, and an MD did confirm this to me. I am told that where the incisions are made and avoiding certain landmarks of the stomach, Angle of his, etc etc...can be very important. I Would have had the surgery, but there is NO way for me to confirm the type of technique my surgeon uses. GERD can be due to other reasons of course, but technique is a factor.

I had the gastric bypass done and i have severe acid reflux and heartburn. I wish i NEVER had surgery.

I had a sleeve gastrectomy back in 2019, with no issues of bad reflux or heartburn until recently, after a kidney transplant. Apparently, it’s a side effect of one of my anti-rejection medications. I take protonix twice daily, and it eases it, but it doesn’t eliminate it. I wish there was a solution that didn’t involve another surgery.

I had the sleeve but converted over to the bypass. I had severe heartburn from the sleeve but lost bunch of weight. Once I had the bypass, had nothing but problems. And after I had the bypass I had bad problems with eating. My food and drinks came back up making me throw up every time. I had a stent put in for 2 months and it worked. The next day after I had the stent taken out, WHICH WAS DECEMBER 15, 2023, I’m throwing up again. HOW CAN THIS BE FIXED!!!!

Would taking a PPI (Nexium) daily help for sleeve-related acid reflux? Is that an option or does it have to go straight to another surgery?

So I had the RNY and developed reflex with a hiatal hernia in the pouch- I was told I would never develop GERD or heartburn etc. how is that possible is it due to hernia then?

I had my gastric sleeve 5 years ago, and my acid reflux continues. It's so bad now that they're recommending I do the gastric bypass to end my issues with acid reflux😔

Sorry doc u failed basic medical school, this happens because there isn't enough acid in the stomach, and u doctors make it worse by giving anti-acids ....Ihad it for years AND it went away because I did my RESEARCH, I increased by prebiotic foods intake which helped increase the stomach acid so all the other food I eat gets digested and DOESN'T NEED TO COME BACK UP....SIMPLE stuff really
