Fun fact: Dame Charlotte Rampling, the actress who played Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam, was cast to play Lady Jessica in Jodorowsky's Dune back in the 70s.

My take on movie Chani is that she is not against Paul marrying Irulan per se but Paul reverting back to his duke persona and abandoning (to her mind) his Fremen identity. Also, she is against the Fremen going on a religious jihad being used as a tool to maintain imperial (Paul) power.

For such a dense source material I’m very impressed at this film adaptation of the story. It takes liberties but still tells the story of the book I love it

One of the last lines in the film still destroys me… “lead them to paradise.” Just so sad to think about. 60 billion dead due to the war and a false prophet.

Honestly, my only big complaint about Part II is that ending change with Chani. It was also a huge power move by Paul to put House Corrino in a very humbling place - just because Princess Irulan was "royal" blood, doesn't mean Paul will value her more than the non-status Fremen, Chani. It is a MAJOR theme in that book (and even the entire Dune series) that women of no/little status, like Jessica and Chani, are ultimately able to change the entire fate of the universe - because it is NOT about the lineage you are born into, or the "power" you are given, but all about the destiny and path you make for yourself.

Appreciatee the editting on this vid. Understand it can be hard when the second part is still in theaters. Really solid support to the narrative of the video, and waaay more engaging that just lnooping the same 1 min of clips like many channels do! Bravo!

the best parts of the movie to me are when the emperor arrives, the whole tent sequence, Paul silencing mohiam and the “lead them to paradise” frase, it’s peak cinema to me

You know homie is deep into Dune when he starts referencing Miles fucking Teg. The goat indeed. I hope they continue to make movies, and eventually we'll get to God Emperor of Dune. Though, with the almost zero exposition style of storytelling Dennis seems to use in these movies, I have a feeling God Emperor would be impossible. Too much inner monologue of Leto II.

Excellent examples of a director wanting to highlight great female characters and not shoving it down the audiences throat. Good writing will always prevail.

I loved this analysis. It broke everything between the two mediums and you found a rationale for why the differences exist. I still don't agree with the Change in Chani, but I loved seeing your take on this 👌👌

the scene where Paul met Gurney was emotional for me

I am absolutely pissed that the Reverend Mother called Paul an abomination. Paul! It is like they are changing the definition of the word to lessen the impact when Aliya is born one

Again as a dune elitist - I loved these two movies. I hope for Dune:Messiah but unless Denis is doing them, they can stop…..just like they should have stopped writing books after Franks death.
These two movies are, imho, the best adaptation of Dune to date.
