This seems like a waste of space and time. Why do the boards move back and forth if you could've put the horizontal and vertical boards on at the same location?

Hi, I have a question. When pressing the panel with all the components, I see that there is a lateral press appied to edges. How do you control the joints to be fully closed in all other directions?
