I found a way to fix it!!!
I put the umbrella upside down and put both my hands on the handle. And i just pushed it down as hard as i could, and it worked. No need to hold the button

YALL I HAVE THE REAL SOLUTION FOR THIS:
Step 1: put the umbrella face down
Step 2: gently press the handle
Step 3: gently close it but like very fast you need to close it very fast but gently you dont need to press with full power gently just real fast

Just got mine today and I'm about to throw it away, none of the tips from the comments works, my hands hurt from pressing 😢 I wish I could do it at least once so I can return the freaking thing.

I managed to make it come down but the white string/cord (?) sticking out from the top cannot be fixed with the proposed methods in the comment section. What I suggest is to manually fix it by dismantling the umbrella and probably pull the string somewhere along the lines or just go to like a two dollar shop and buy a new one.

I had this problem to fix it is easy and simple ; just replace the umbrella face down and push it hard

I put my umbrella upside on one hand ( holding it steady) and pushed the handle down quickly it worked! I got scared though cause it opened up lol but I got it to close and thankfully put it away 😅

I opened mine with a knife, and then it does come down, but when I put everything together the problem comes back…

Guys. I have tried closing it really really fking fast against the floor, and after around 100 something tries, it worked 😂 I was able to use it for a couple of months until it happened again, and i did the thing again. Sometimes u can get pissed that it doesnt work, but trust me just keep trying, and on maybe the 500th try it might work for u, or the first 10 if youre luck. Trick is: close as fast as u can against the floor. (Ur hand might hurt a bit after doing it a lot)
