Here are my thoughts on Peter Toon's Puritans and Calvinism. This is a really good book, and I highly recommend it. This is also the third video in the, Who are the Purians? series.

You can buy this book here:

Or an even cheaper BUMPED version here:

I hope you all have a blessed day!

Thanks for this - Peter Toon was an important corrective in the 1980s and 1990s to the Calvin vs the Calvinists paradigm. BTW, you need to come to England, if only to learn how to pronounce the places you refer to 😂

The early Protestant and Reformed Christians effectively became "atheistic" towards the Virgin Mary and the saints when they stopped praying to these supernaturals, as anthropologists call them. The fact that nothing woo-woo bad happened to them from "firing" these beings opened the door a few generations later to the idea that we could "fire god" as well, and be none the worse off.

I'm going to be negative here, seemingly, but this is not so much a review of what the book is about but about meaningless details of the book. 7 mins. in and no review of the actual subect of the book. Long winded. Needs to learn to get to the point.
