Amiibos now for me have stopped becoming about the price but more that it’s impossible to find the ones you want without paying scalping prices

I think the solution Nintendo would offer to this problem would be to buy 2 of every amiibo

The problem with Amiibo for me is that Nintendo either uses them too much or too little. In Botw they only give you some cosmetics and in Smash you get an npc fighter. While in Samus Returns the Metroid Amiibo locks away the hardest difficulty and in Twilight Princess HD the Wolf Link Amiibo locks away an entire dungeon

The real unsolved amiibo dilemma is that they either:
a) do something significant in the game, resulting in complaints of content being locked behind an amiibo paywall, or
b) don't do anything significant, resulting in complaints that they're not worth the price since they're effectively useless.

Amiibo! I can’t help but take mine out of their boxes. They’re just quality figures I love to look at and I just think they’re neat!

Regardless of your opinion. I’m sure we all welcome more reprints of old amiibo that has skyrocketed in prices.

I bought and opened every smash amiibo, because they're like the throphies in the older games. So having them sealed would feel wrong.

I have 2 shelves above my computer monitor covered in unboxed amiibos. Keeping stuff in box to hold value never made sense to me.
"So i have to keep it boxed and nice.... for someone else?" I'm never gonna sell them, so the value is even worse, I'm keeping them nice for someone else once I've died. So i wont see that money because i'll be dead lol

Amiibos to me are extremely well made action figures of fan favorite characters which also happen to have some pretty neat to cool functionality in game.

As a packaging designer, I'm happy to hear someone is thinking about my family, but I know the purpose of my work is to protect and present the actual product that people want. Don't feel bad about breaking or recycling the packaging.
If you want to preserve your Amiibo or present your collection in a more uniform way, that's fine too.

"all sorts of different ways to have fun with them"

I always unbox mine since there are so many more ways to display them out of box compared to in box and you can actually use them in game like they're intended to be, but I totally understand that people like to keep them unopened in order to preserve both the package art and the figures value of by not exposing them to any dust, damage, etc.

Honestly I don’t care about the box vs inbox that’s up to the individual owner to decide. What I find annoying is that they keep making new lines without reprinting old ones. For recent example the shulk amibo giving a monado skin in xc3. The thing goes for a hundred bucks in box they need to reprint them if they make new uses for them.

Only a bit into the video and I'm dying laughing in the best way. This is lovely!

Amiibo are toys, they are meant to be played with. I'm totally with Alex on this one.

Ok... Y'all need to do debates more often. I love the friendly passionate disagreeing and would love to see more. :)

Me personally, I'm an out of box collector. I like being able to view them from every angle, it's like the trophy viewer in Smash but with real, official Smash trophies.
I also love the artwork on the packaging too, so whenever I take an amiibo out of the box, I cut the backing off of the front plastic. That way I can take the amiibo out of the box and have the nice artwork at the same time.

Also I love those custom painted amiibo in this video, I really need to get my hands on a few!

So... this was 20 minutes of "store them however you want"?

Lots of people collect toys and keep them in the box. It's an aldult collector thing. I don't think Alex has the collector bug at a guess
