My best tip for new players is to take your time.
I've been playing for over a year, and I've climbed from Iron 1 to Silver 2. I know people who've gotten to diamond in that time, and I know players who are still Iron in a year.
The best thing you can do for yourself is to learn. Learn your agent inside and out. The biggest thing I did to get from bronze to silver is picking an agent (KJ) and sticking with her.
I learned lineups, setups, ult spots etc.
By taking my time, I've found an agent that I thoroughly enjoy. If you try to swap mains at a rank like gold, it's going to be much harder than when you're in Iron.

Also some good tips are
1. Don't get tilted
2. Mute toxic teammates
3. Warmup before every game
4. Turn off your KD board in the settings
5. LEARN YOUR AGENT
6. Aim training can be very valuable

Started playing yesterday for the first time. First FPS game ever played, and am so confused lol. Took me a while to realise you needed to buy guns, armor and abilities as to not get eradicated instantly… Damn the whole chat was spamming “noob” as I was trying to figure out how tf the game worked in unranked haha

I played my first game this weekend and got 2-3 kills, but I noticed everyone I was shooting at just stood still or crouched. I asked my team if that's all I should do and they said yes. I boosted my kills to about 6 in the last couple of rounds and then after that I started new games and got over 20 kills for the next 2. So that's my most obvious tip!

I played yesterday evening 1 game and it's so hard even though I'm playing other similar games to valorant. I think it's recommended to focus on the enemy who has spotted you first. For example:
You are using yoru and teleported behind the enemy, but one spotted/noticed you. Shoot the enemy who has spotted you first and finish the rest if they didn't notice you yet or They have slow reaction time.
