Do you think they should put the Ripsaw away for good or does it have real-life combat use? If so, where?

America: You are a (light) tank
Ripsaw: *Has an existential crisis*

*I remember seeing the development of the ripsaw by Howe & Howe on Discovery Channel! Great series 😊*

*I mean...it's not really a tank, not even the slightest.*

The comparison is not fair as well, sprut-sd light tank is 18 tons.

It's more like a humvee alternative but even still, Ripsaw is nowhere near to replace humvee.

I can tell ripsaw can be used as a scout vehicle for difficult terrains but that's pretty much it.

I know it great but..

*But can it survive the KV-2 shot?*

Honestly this is just the firepower of a single squad. In no way is this a light tank. Maybe a scout tank.

The ripsaw was on contract to be built since around 2000... Bush era. Not obama. The govt doesnt just build things *then* find a use.
I remember seeing it a LONG time ago on discovery channel.

Or were u refering to its use as more of a tank with more than the machine gun?

This futuristic tank was first featured in GI Joe staring Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis and not in fast and furious. Recheck your research..

I think the Ripsaw needs a redesign, increasing its size, armor and carrying capacity, the vehicle has changed very little from its inception and while it's a great recreational vehicle, it focuses too much on speed at the expense of any other options. As a Scouting vehicle, it would have been an incredible asset before the rise of unmaned aerial drones but in its current state the vehicle would need to top 120mph for its lack of armor to be worth something. On the other hand, if APS technologies develop far enough, then the lack of armor might not be as big of an issue in future conflicts though the limited armament would still be a problem.

All in all the Ripsaw has great potential, just not in its current configuration, upscale it by 3 times and then you'd have something the Army could get invested in.

Perhaps we could see the ripsaw less as a tank but more as a tank-like fighting vehicle, like troop transports and humvees.

I think that the Ripsaw could be used as a High Speed Anti-Infantry vehicle.

May not work in battle but it could be used in NASAs new Artemis Lunar program. It sounds like it would be useful for exploring large areas of rough terrain.

The next American Light Tank will be the Griffin II and next IFV would be the Griffin III. The Ripsaw would be useful in the roles of an ambulance, scouting, patrolling, close infranty support, or a mobile sentry gun

This looks like the original design of the first tank that the British made

The army basically played GTA 5 online, took a look at the arena war scarab and said we need this!

Ripsaw: am the future of anti-tank warfare
Mine: hold my beer

It could be used as ultra light Mortar platform. It doesn’t have to go tow to tow with other tanks, yet it can probably pose a threat everything in its range.
