Sorting the Doctor into Hogwarts Houses (Doctor Who Meets Harry Potter)

Sometimes it's just fun to mash up your preferred fandoms. So today, for no reason other than I just want to, I'm going to mash together the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Doctor Who. And I'm going to do it by sorting every incarnation of the Doctor (all fourteen to date) into one of the Hogwarts houses. So who will end up in Gryffindor? What about Slytherin? Ravenclaw must be home to a few. Any in Hufflepuff? Well, let's find out and let the angry disagreements commence, because when I'm bringing together two easily riled fandoms I can't imagine it's going to be polite agreement with what I'm about to lay out.

12 is a house unto himself. And you know he'd create one.

Eleventh Doctor is definitely a Hufflepuff, I can't watch Newt in the Fantastic Beasts films without thinking of a Wizarding World version of Eleven.

The Fourth Doctor wouldn’t get sorted, the Sorting Hat would explode after being on his head for more than three seconds.

I wouldn't have thought of the Ninth Doctor in Hufflepuff, but when you think about his reaction in "The Doctor Dances", you kind of realize this is the first time we see the real him. The joy at being able to save everyone for once really invigorates him for the remainder of the season. It's also literally my favorite moment from the show's entire history. So, I agree. Hufflepuff.

Great video
Will we see the modern companions in Hogwarts houses?

Wait, sonic screwdrivers don't work on wood. Advantage: Harry.

You mentioned a lot of Hufflepuff at the end, and I think there is a reason for that trend as the Doctor obviously went through a lot in the Time War. It is as if he is trying to hold himself to higher moral standard after everything he has seen. I think that the Doctor's character involves traits from all houses, but I think that Hufflepuff is the one fartherst from his natural instincts after the war. That is why he feels it to be the most important. It is as if he is continually going against his inate nature and choosing Hufflepuff. And in the end, it is our choices far more than our abilities that determine who we are.

We see this again and again in the NewWho Doctors. You mentioned Nine's choice in Parting of the Ways. But Ten also made a similar decision in the Sontaran two-parter, when he gives up his tactical advantage as he decides to go back on the ship and risk being destroyed himself only to make sure that he gives them a fair choice. When Eleven talks about "good men don't need rules", it talks to his darker impulses and his discipline to keep them in check. But it is perhaps seen clearest in Twelve, with his obsession with being "a good man", and also when he explains that it isn't about winning, but rather what is right and decent and kind. These are the Doctor's driving motivations. Without hope, without witness, without reward.

I believe that the Doctor (or at least most of the latest incarnations) would all want to be sorted into Hufflepuff, since that is the definition of being "the Doctor" inside the Doctor's own mind.

That's as nerdy as a Klingon to Sindarin dictionary.

Anytime you're trying to sort a weirdo it's probably best to assume Ravenclaw. Everyone I know who's unconventional has been sorted into that house.

11th Doctor is definitely a Hufflepuff, I think the way 11 acts is similar to Newt from Fantastic Beasts who is a Hufflepuff.

So, Luna definitely needs to be the next doctor.

Tenth Doctor is a Slytherin! I mean, TIME LORD VICTORIOUS! "You want a higher authority, there isn't one, it ends with me!"

This is a really fun, unique sorting of the Doctors. I appreciate that you made an effort to look beyond surface level traits and try to get to the core of who that incarnation is and which house would be the best fit for them. Ravenclaw for the Twelfth Doctor makes the most sense to me since he's a character obsessed with over-analysing every situation he's in.

I disagree on the War Doctor only. I think he's a gryffindor. He asked for a warrior, if you want a warrior you don't go to slytherin, slytherins are spies, assassins, tacticians and officers, they make the plans, give the orders, hunk every detail through a play it smart, taking as few risks as possible. A warrior is a Gryffindor, strong at heart, never scared to run into a battle whenever necessary.

Peter's best power as a character was that "kicked puppy" look. And you can't tell me it wasn't intentional. Often times when he gave that look it was a "Oh... You're gonna make me press da button aren't you" look. And he was genuinely sad when he did it - but it was like "This face - this face == your last chance!"
Also - btw glad you had fun on your convention trip. You look gorgeous.

I picture the 8th doctor as a Hufflepuff. The Night of the Doctor is to me a Hufflepuff kind of move.

11th got to be so Hufflepuff because the missus aka river did all the Slytherin aspects for him.
