INSIDE A 230,000 MILE Toyota Land Cruiser Engine | 1FZ-FE Rebuild - CRACKED BLOCK!

Continuing where we left off and taking apart the bottom end of this iconic (and huge) Toyota 1FZ 4.5L inline-6 out of my 1993 80 Series Land Cruiser (FZJ80) with high mileage. Removing the pistons, rods, crankshaft, checking main and rod bearing clearances using plastigage (dial bore gauge recommended) and finding a little crack in the block by the freeze plug! This motor is surprisingly clean and well within factory Toyota spec when it comes to oil clearance. The cylinders look brand new besides a little carbon build up. This engine looks like it has MUCH less than 230,000 miles (370,000 km) on it, and I suspect it will last forever once rebuilt. I have to say this engine is very similar to the 2JZ besides the cylinder head, very interesting!

Also...I sold my built Toyota Pickup crawler. You will be missed! Focus is shifting towards the landcruiser build.

Aww man I loved that truck, I was even more happy when u picked up the first gen 4Runner. I like that u have a land cruiser but 1st gen Toyota’s are just special. And now both are gone.

Seeing the use of the plastigage was awesome! Excellent video and very informative. Thank you for posting.

Saddened by the sale but will continue to follow your build. If you got any cool 4Runner or pickup parts left over shoot them my way 😂

As far as what to do with the build, at least get a nicer cam and perhaps a crank kit for it? How fast you want to go equals how much money you want to spend on the engine really. Great video, Jim.

Could easily find a donor block that is newer. Instead of repairing the cracked one.

Nothings like owning a TOYOTA, closest things are HONDAs and Subarus. ❤
