Don't get iced by winter! As winter sets in, the roads can become a treacherous place for a vehicle. Heavy rain, snow, sleet, black ice, and ice can create a whole new world on the road than what most are used to driving on. Drivers ed didn't teach you how to drive in this weather. These tips are important to know before you head out on those slippery roads.

I added some winter car accidents as a reminder of what NOT to do.

In Okla... can't even get out of my subdivision with 1-2 feet deep snow on the residential streets. For some crazy reason, I bought a snow shovel a few weeks ago, thinking it would be a novelty that I would never unwrap. That shovel has sure come in handy. So has the whole home backup generator. The Oklahoma standard seems to be wait for the sun to melt it all off. Still waiting.

OUCH 🤕 that first part of your video, Lauren. What I needed and have for winter driving is a snowmobile, aka, sled. And it's registered as an emergency vehicle. It's no good for pavement. LoL 🤣

My ice Road story. Coming home from my future wife’s home I have to go down the street that has slight slope. Going down was fine until I got near the bottom and started to go to the side of the curb. I almost stopped but I tapped a car. Unfortunately the car with the chief of police’s car. I couldn’t back up so I left it there and walked home. Next morning dad woke me and said the Chief wanted to talk. He was very nice no damage was done. Then after the sun came up I was able to move my car but every time that I saw the chief he laughed.

DRIVE S L O W L Y and pump your brakes lightly. Take the antilock fuse out. An old trick is to put the car in neutral. Never do that with today's cars. Then you're free wheeling.
