I think they were trying to stick to winter DRIVING tips, not winter driving READINESS tips. Hence, no mention of snow tires. These tips are applicable whenever you're driving on snow or ice, regardless of your equipment.

CR has done videos on the value of snow tires before, so it's not like they don't know.

Here in chicago you can be as careful as possible but there are still dumbasses on the roads doing 70 MPH on icy conditions

Thanks Jen! I live in the Snow Belt. Every winter it seems that drivers relearn your driving tips. Even when the highway is lined with spin outs, people are going above 80 mph.

Threshold braking should have been mentioned. Abs can substantially increase stopping distances.

here in canada i know a few people who think they need AWD or similar for the winter.. they are the people who drive with all seasons... lol....

Believe ABS only gives shorter stopping distance on dry pavement though does give the average driver more control on all other road conditions. A tradeoff.

excellent comment "stay off the gas, stay off the brakes", but if you also put it in Neutral, you'll gain control a little faster.
