The capture file showed several TCP resets. What did they tell us? What were the next steps? What key header values pointed to the root cause?

This video may have just revolutionized the way I troubleshoot proxy upstream Resets. Match SYN/ACK, to the RST TTL and boom, now we no who is resetting the connection!

thanks Chris, i used this tutorial to identify that a reset was not coming from my proxy in cloud but it was coming from my local Azure firewall, amazing tutorial

Wow, Chris, this was so informative. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. I was wondering if you can do an indepth video on troubleshooting wifi. For example, I was in a classroom of elementary students whom use chromebooks for testing. Fifth graders tested and for the most part, were fine, but third graders testing on a more graphics-intensive test had problems with disconnects, sluggish behavior, or were basically stuck in a processing screen until the reboot (sometimes more than once). Eventually, they would get through. Their IT guy does not think it's an issue with is network because he said the Aruba APs and controllers show everything is fine. I've been reading up on wifi and honestly, it's over my head but I've given him information as to what to look for and without me looking over his shoulder, I assume he is practicing good wifi. They did provide wireshark logs, but I don't really know how to interpret it. I see a lot of 802.11 protocol listed in a set of capture files, but the next set they sent didn't have these...they show other protocols instead. Also, I hear they 802.11 protocol ones are most likley encrypted. Would also be interested in hearing your take on that and HTTPS traffic on wireshark. Any chance you can help out because I am really stumped as to what to do.

Hi Chris! Thank you so much for this video, it's just what I needed. However, in my scenario, the resets came from my client so it could be my antivirus or cisco umbrella. Will do further investigation on my side. Thank you

Thanks for the analysis Chris.
We have a similar issue in our environment. But still not able to understand from where the resets are originating. We captured traffic from both source and destination. And appears the resets are coming from both. Apart from firewall, could there be any other areas? While analyzing the traffic (referencing your video) I also found one reset packet which seems to be not routed. And one reset which is routed. So confusing.
