If the voice or opinion of one guy can influence L2 and even Ethereum that much, they are not sufficiently decentralized. That said, my favorite L2 is Metis (which Vitalik’s mon is involved) because it’s the first (and only if I’m not mistaken) decentralized sequencer. Sequencers are the decentralization’s Achilles heel in most projects. If projects want to achieve upper stages of decentralization, they need to utilized everything decentralized.

1. Layer 2s don’t need decentralization if you can move to L1, and over to another layer 2.
2. Proof of stake leads to future centralization so Eth is just getting more centralized as time goes by.
