Cody Rhodes never forgot what Paul Heyman did for the American Dream Dusty Rhodes in ECW 2000

Cody thanked Paul Heyman when Paul booked a broke Dusty Rhodes in ECW. Cody said Paul gave Dusty his confidence back and it is a debt that Cody can never ever repay.
A Son will always take up for his Father, this is another reason why Cody is so relatable to a lot of people.
Paul Heyman was the manager and wise man for Roman Reigns and despite the differences Cody and Paul had Cody took the time to thank Paul Heyman for saving Dusty Rhodes. As a son seeing your father be a shell of himself but then your father finds the spark again is once again so relatable to me.
Paul was known for bouncing checks, but he never bounced one to Dusty Rhodes.
Dusty Rhodes ended up facing Steve Corino at ECW Living Dangerously 2000. Cody also faced off against Steve Corino in Ring of Honor before going to AEW with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.

Not gonna sugarcoat it, while Cody was saying this live, it gave me chills and almost made me tear up. A lot of us thought wrestlers were wealthy and living large back in the day until we all got older and realized that most of them weren't living like that and many were either in debt or had no real retirement plan in place. It was very respectful of Paul Heyman to do that for Dusty even though ECW itself was likely in financial turmoil itself.

Paul deep down is a great manager. He looks out for wrestlers. He is like the "on the road" father figure type. As long as you put your heart into the business, he will always have your back. Paul, as a heel, good guy, manager, whatever he may be, he will always be the wrestler's lifeline and personal friend forever.

Ever since his phoenix-like return to success, up to this very moment, around the world and in every company he has worked for in recent time up to WWE now, Cody Rhodes has made some of the greatest wrestlers, managers, and talent break down and cry just by thanking them for whatever they've done for him and his family, showing genuine gratitude and humility and showing them the respect they truly deserve.
We live in different times now, and not many people will show that kind of humility and vulnerability.
I'm glad Cody Rhodes is one of the few people who is.
