But none of this could have prepared her to keep a straight face when NASA engineers asked her how many tampons she’d need for her week-long mission: Would one hundred suffice?

You know, because of how absorbent they are, tampons Can be used for things other than ones menstrual cycle. They’re actually very versatile in their usefulness.

For anyone wondering: 100 is overkill for one single week, (who knows if you're even on your period that week) and she was baffled because they were so worried about having enough that they gave way too many for one lady 😂 (imo, 100 is not enough because what if she got stranded somewhere, she'd sure be glad they sent 100 LOL)
