Dan Blocker suffered from a metabolic syndrome. Polifagia, polidipsia, and poliuria are signs of diabetes. We didn't have diagnosis and treatment for metabolic syndrome in 1960's. Thanks for the tribute to Dan Blocker, a beloved TV icon, great actor and brilliant human being.

As a kid in 1969 we prepared to shoot exterior night scene in the daylight. While waiting for Mr. Blocker, Michael Landon was explaining the scene setup to me and how the camera filters would make it look like nightime. Just then DB entered, tossed a wood chair out of his way, and said "lets get this over with" .minutes later In front of the camera he instantly became Hoss! After we "Got it over with", He just turned and left. No words. I thought the big guy was mad at me, I guess It was obvious I was shaken because .Michael Landon put his hand on my shoulder we walked a bit, He explained DB was not like that, and his back was really hurting. It wasn't anything I did wrong. . Also That DB works hard and is a very nice person . So Its true Michael Landon took the time to make me feel better and defended his friend DB. Who was working with alot of pain, I'm sure more than we know.

He died of a blood clot developed following gall bladder surgery, causing a massive pulmonary embolism.

I think everyone loved Dan Blocker as Hoss. I did. Very sad day when he died. He was a big man with a big appetite. RIP 🙏 🪦 Hoss 😢
