In this video I show what happens when concentrated nitric acid comes in contact with a standard nitrile lab glove, and why (if you have no nitric acid resistant gloves on hand) it is a better idea to go without gloves.

1 I belive you use highly concentrated HNO3, like >90%, since the labeled one 50-70 doesn't ignite gloves like that, us far us I remember.
2 Conc. HNO3 instantly burns, like in the second it touches skin, so any gloves wound be good, maybe not nitril, but any like PVC, or fat rubber gloves even better.

My job needs to show the dangers of nitric acid. We use it everyday for our anodize process and its not always rinsed off all the way.

Pulling off a pair of gloves is way quicker than getting to a sink and washing your hands.
I might consider not wearing gloves next time and setting up a bucket of saturated Bicarb soda solution.

if you're using a high concentration nitric acid then get yourself the right gloves. Suggesting that people go without protection because the cheapest gloves don't work is stupid.
