Definitely true. It’s a swing path for more control and not just for the men. I’m a female that discovered this about 40 years ago thinking of it then as a question mark.

Does a different forwhand grip mean racket face is different angle at contact for same topspin?

In modern tennis, this is so called ATP forehand. The other style is called WTA forehand which is more forward swing and less outward swing.

half baked explanation. the swing path is a consequence of the foot to hip firing/initiating the swing/whip. your really doesn’t swing. ideal situation is your arm is staying stationary and as the hip fires and rotates due to the push of the foot like a boxing punch, the arm/racquet swings at the ball just like perfect boxing technique.
