This is Bad News For New Animal Crossing Game in 2023

Nintendo's New Console seems to be in development currently - in fact several sources have confirmed this to be true. Although this is really exciting, it might actually be bad news for Switch owners, especially Animal Crossing fans hoping for new games on their favourite system. Let's see why!

I just hope they don’t use the success of New Horizons to keep the same format in the next game. Sooo much was missing from New Horizons. It’s still a great game but they seriously traded quality for upgraded graphics and terraforming. Being able to put furniture outside is awesome also, but I personally think New Leaf’s items and furniture sets were better.

I wish we had a game similar to city folk, I really liked the busy city vibe it had and how it was a contrast to the main atmosphere of the game! I know we’re able to travel to different islands and stuff, but I really think traveling to the city would be a cool concept for them to bring back!

Edit: I also miss the cranky villagers LOL I think it’d be awesome if they brought them back

When the new game came out, I was honestly hoping it would be almost the same as new leaf, just with a lot more freedom to customize your island/town and house. Like new leaf kept you entertained for hoursss and had so much great content, the only thing it was missing was more creative control

Here's the thing, I kinda hope they DON'T release an Animal Crossing game on their new console because I probably won't be able to play it. Especially if you'll have to buy the new console AND the game. I don't wanna stop anyone else from enjoying the (hopefully) new Animal Crossing game, but for me, it's just gonna be upsetting.

I'm definitely still not ready for a next Animal Crossing game yet. But I'm still very interested in seeing what the future has in store.

To be honest, I think Happy Home Paradise really counts as a standalone spin-off game, just inside of New Horizons, which isn't bad at all.
HHP has brought a lot of content. From designing a unique home for every villager in the game, including special ones, to designing Schools, Hospitals, Cafes and Restaurants and hiring different villagers to partake in different jobs.
Plus HHP has it's own adorable little storyline with lovable characters.
It very much feels like a different game, that even let's you forget about your main island for a moment.
I'm no designer, I'm more of an immersion player, but this DLC was so good it made me look at New Horizons from a different angle, sparking my enthusiasm once more, in an activity I would've never enjoyed otherwise - designing houses.

What would be really cool if Ac, stayed the exact same but like in pocket camp the villagers had daily task for you. You could go up to them and they have a little bubble with the item they want like a fruit, bug or fish. I wish those task were in new horizons in addition to nook mile daily task. I think that would really add to the game play besides terraforming and then restarting your island once you finish your theme. Also if the tournaments like the finishing ones in pocket camp were included in new horizons! I think that would really expand the game play and prevent burn out for people as they focus on building their island

Again, I’m gonna say this. I’m content with new horizons. I don’t need a new game OR CONSOLE (and besides it’s like $300 for a new switch and around $70 for every new game) which I don’t have the money to throw around Willy-nilly but when that time comes it comes. But I’m not actively looking for it. (And besides I spent like 4weeks in a row of little sleep trying to get my second island the way I want it to look, so I’d say, I’m not ready for another round of that)

I don’t know if I would like the consul because two people can’t be on their islands at the same time. With the switch you can.

I just hope they make the next console backwards compatible so I can keep playing my old games on a better system.

The next animal crossing game will definitely be for the next console, especially bc we DID get a spin-off on the switch (in the form of the HHP DLC). I’m confident that the next animal crossing game won’t come out until at LEAST 2025, if not later, judging by how long it took for ACNH to come out. I think it’ll will come out about 6 months to a year after ‘switch 2’ is released, making the gap between ACNH and the next game approximately 5 years, since the time between main line games has been anywhere from 3-8 years in the past.

I think it's best to keep expectations low. New horizons didn't come out until halfway through the switch's lifespan. I dont think they're in a rush to push it out when the next console is released, and considering after "Brewster" update they pulled the dev team off and said they were done with NH and working on Splatoon instead, I don't think they have high priorities for NH or a spin off for the switch, ESPECIALLY since they're working on a new console.

Game dev and new consoles take YEARS, so I'd get comfortable. It's only been 3 years since NH came out, I really don't think a new game isn't coming out any time soon.

Personally, I think something that would be really cool to add to the next AC is being able to customize the animal themselves. Like there could be a “salon” that you can take your villagers to and do “dyes” or custom paint jobs on. Then you could REALLY theme your animals to your AC town. For example you want all wolves but some of the wolves don’t have the same theme you want your town and let’s just say you want a fairy core town, then you can customize their body’s with like flowers or mushrooms! I think that would be really cool and would add more individualism to the game.

ALSO THO! MODS! I think they should allow mods so we can continue to play and keep the community alive!
