How Sam Harris Has Managed To Annoy Everyone

Everyone seems to be getting mad at Sam Harris recently. Although I love his work, I definitely don't agree with everything he's said, and I think that his hatred for Trump very well might have skewed his worldview. But that doesn't explain why people have been getting so angry at Sam, I think this video explains at least a part of it...

For the record - I'm a fan of Sam's work and although I don't agree with all of his positions, I can't not respect him for continuing to voice his own thoughts, even though they're not always going to be popular. Peace x

It's worth noting that Sam isn't really in "the middle." He's on the left on most topics. He can just recognize the partisan craziness on either side.

Sam's TDS was out of control. I don't mind if a person criticizes Trumps policies but it becomes exhausting when all I hear is personal insults and nothing much more than "orange man bad".

No, it's not that people dislike people whose views are unpredictable. People dislike and distrust those who violate their own stated principles, contradict themselves, engage in moral relativism or allow their apparent political tribalism turn them into hypocrites.

I remember when he rightfully mocked the idea of 'guilt by association' only to criticize Douglas Murray years later for talking to people who talked to someone, who in turn talked to someone, who was considered far right by the mainstream media.He refused to talk to people who contradicted his point of view, he drifted into alarmist rhetoric and he started to choose his podcast guest by their ethnic background.
You gave food for thought and interesting points, such as the reason why archetypes are so popular, but in Harris' case there is more to it. For me personally, he lost the plot years ago, and it coincided with the election of Trump... Anyway, keep up the good work!

He is in this awkward place where he is not empirical enough to be a serious academic, but also not a commentator. He essentially presents his opinions as empirical fact.

I stopped watching Sam because I felt he was wasting my time. "Yes, Sam, I understand that you hate Trump. I get it. Actually, I got it two thousand times ago when you started calling him a narcisstic man child." And as more and more broadcast time started being eaten up by his TDS rants, I just stopped listening.

Sam latest video "On Disappointing My Audience" is the perfect example of him digging his own grave. He just double down in his TDS, "i don't discuss with this people because i'm right", no arguments, no nuance, no data. It's sad to see Sam sink this low.
