After watching this a few times, I've come to a theory of my own. I think the person we're playing as isn't human. It's one of the GV characters with memories from a parent.

Think about it. Ban-ban mentions how he's surprised you survived until this point. There's a whole document saying how only GV creatures can survive Sheriff Toadster's capture methods. Ban-ban refers to himself as Ulthman or a doctor. Each creature also acknowledges each other's perceived identities, so the fact that they're treating you like a parent looking for a missing child isn't too crazy.

The twist at the end is going to be that the player is one of these GV creatures. Calling it now.
