How to Fix Duplicate Product URL's in Shopify

People like to criticise Shopify and say it isn't good for SEO. They are wrong. You simply need to know how the system works and adapt it.
One of the things Shopify does do is create duplicate product URL's. Shopify deals with this by using a canonical tag but I like to avoid them in the first place to ensure there are fewer URL's for Google to crawl.

I found this great post on how to fix the issue and did a video to explain it in more detail.

Thank you, I made that code change noted on the page that you linked to. Will google automatically index those pages over time, meaning... will these pages relating to this canonical tag error decrease automatically over time?
