Honestly, 1200 is extremely restrictive for normal people, for someone who is eating 7000-10000 calories a day, it's pretty extreme to expect they can actually stick to it. I think Dr. Now gives them 1200, knows they'll cheat, but the guilt that comes with it will either drive them to binge or stop at a 2000 calorie cheat and they're still at 5000-7000 deficit vs their normal diet.

I am eating low carb, high protein, and working out, last 7 months. 239, down from 318. I have no cravings for sugar whatsoever. I am healthier than I have been in 30 years. I still have a way to go, but I am getting there.

"The most memorable salad I've ever tossed." 😂

Finally, a gym bro with a great sense of humor 👏

1200 calorie diet is for a reason. Because once they get bariatric surgery, the amount of food they can eat at any time is significantly less.

I'm not sure why he does that. He sets them up for failure. At the weight they are they could eat 2000-2400 calories and still lose massive amounts of weight, then they would get the surgery and can restrict further from that point.

When I read the title I thought he meant 600lb diet as in a diet that will get you to 600lb fast😂

Diabetes diagnosis did it for me. At 234, 6 in June 2024 got diagnosed. Turned my diet habits around 180 degrees. Reading labels counting carbs and calories. Absolutely no second helpings of anything. No sugar content either because of the diabetes. This week at a follow up appointment I weighed 175. Doc says diabetes is well controlled. I’m not going back to the way I was eating. New goal is 160. As for those at 600 pounds, it seems cutting them off at 1200 is like next to nothing.

I have always been a big person and the one thing that I found that really works is super low card eating. I mean no more than twenty carbs a day and many nights I would still go to be hungry, you just had to get used to it. I lost 119lba in 9 months. Here's the thing though about some or many big people, we're all fighting stuff in our minds, shame, guilt, OCD, depression, lonliness, etc, etc. You can cut carbs all you want and the weight will come off but the moment you stop, it all comes back because of the stuff in our heads. It's like an alcoholic or drug addict looking for the next high only many of us are trying to ease the pain in our hearts and minds

I love this show so much I’m glad I’m not alone so many Dr Now gems such as “are you telling me you live in a no salad delivery zone?”

Dr Now could have his patients on 1800-2000 calories if low carb which is a normal calorie count for a day. They could stick

Those people could eat well over 2000 calories and still lose weight rapidly. I heard him even tell a patient that they couldn’t have a single serving of strawberries per day because it’s “too much carbs.”

It’s just unnecessarily restrictive for the tv bit

I normally eat twice a day (breakfast and a large plate of warm dinner with dessert) plus a coffe with sugar and milk as "lunch". I love the show, so I tried the 1200kcal diet. But it turned out to be impossible for me, it's just not enough food. I have no idea how a severly food addicted person could ever do it.

Dr. Mike once watched a video of a my 600lbs life patient. He criticized the 1200 calorie diet as very restrictive. I mean these people eat like 10, 000 Kcal a day. Cutting that down to 1200 Kcal a day is like a normal person with a 2000 Kcal/day diet going down to 240 Kcal/day. Nobody would be happy with that. Dr. Now is a good surgeon but he completely neglects any scientific understanding of what causes such extreme obesity. This isn't just being somewhat overweight from a guilty pleasure, it's an illness with complex factors that often developed over decades and often have severe issues at hand. The woman whose episode (or at least clips thereof) Dr. Mike watched came out of an abusive relationship where her ex took her hostage. That is severe psychological trauma as the basis for the obesity.

The great thing about cucumber is that even when you have maxed out your daily calories, it can still fill you up and satisfy you.

I was on 500 a day for much of my university career (a can of tomato soup, two slices of plain toast, and some peas). I still managed to put on weight doing that. I think I may just have a cursed metabolism.

If you think that's bad, look into the Newcastle diet. 800 calories per day. The cheapest version is 1 pint of semi-skimmed milk for breakfast, 1 pint semi-skimmed milk for lunch, and a bowl of leavy green vegetables for dinner with vitamin tablets because you're not eating enough to get proper nutrition. It's so low in calories you're not allowed to do any additional exercise to help with weight loss. It's super restrictive but it's a temporary medical diet to reverse insulin resistance diabetes. You shouldn't try it but it's an interesting read.
