Like your product. Will pick one up tomorrow at B&H. The video failed to mention that the camera and the LensCal need to be on the same plane for it to work. Also the LensCal has a level bubble to help keep it level on table or tripod, a good thing to mention.

Just bought one of these. Great tool to ensure you're in razor sharp focus!

So... if you do it for all your lenses, does the camera remember the lens when you change? or do you have to make a note of each setting and punch it into the camera each time you change lens?

Hi, does it matter whether I focus on the target? Should it be the centre of the main target in middle of the SpyderLensCal or the smaller target next to the ruler?
On your website the pdf instructions say to focus on the small target right next to ruler, but in this video you just say to focus on target and in the cartoon video on the Datacolor website it looks like it suggests focusing on the centre of the main target. I think I read somewhere that the smaller target next to ruler is for macro lens, but your own pdf instructions do not state this. They say to focus on the small target, but don't specify any difference between normal and macro lenses.
Which is the correct part of the target to focus with normal prime lenses (not macros) or doesn't it matter? As I have a couple of 1.2L lens, it is obviously critical to focus in the correct place.
thanks.
Amanda

How do you make sure the lenscal is lined up with your lens correctly? What exactly are you supposed to be focusing on? Not sure if I'm supposed to focus on the ruler, the small target, or the large one. Wish the instruction were more detailed.

Is that scale long enough to calibrate a 500mm lens?

Super new photographer here. When you focus a lens do you have to do this if you put another lens on and then go back or does the camera save settings per lens? I'm using a Canon 5D Mark III.

Is there a particular "methods" of Auto-focus that should be used when focusing on the target (i.e. pinpoint, 1 Area, Custom Multi, etc), or just regular AF and let camera determine which areas to focus on?

Hi , at what distance is the lens usually kept from the calibration scale ? I did read somehwere that the starting point would be to keep the lens at a distance that is 50 times it's focal length and then take shots
without and with the AF adjustment and look at what value would be the
sharpest at Zero .this would mean that for a lens of 35 mm focal
length it would be aroud 1750mm which is approx close to 6
feet. From that distance I find it difficult to look at which shot
is the sharpest and adjust accordingly.Do I need to start at that
distance or get even closer (like say 25 times the focal length
instead of 50).Pls clarify
