It's a Windows Phone 8 shootout battle on Verizon! Aaron takes a look at the Samsung ATIV Odyssey and Nokia Lumia 822. The Samsung ATIV Odyssey offers a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU, 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, 2,100 mAh battery, and 4G LTE. The Nokia Lumia 822 packs a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU, 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording, 1,800 mAh battery, and 4G LTE.

They're both $49.99 on Verizon and they pack unique features. Nokia's betting it all on Windows Phone, and as such, they have fantastic apps included like Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps, and more. That said, Samsung has fantastic brand recognition. Which one will win? Part 1 of 2.

9:20 - The fact that the keyboards are nearly the same size in portrait and landscape modes is the whole point. Windows Phone has clearly had a lot of thought about usability put into it.

the one main question and i had, actually wasn't answered (thanks, Murphy!)

i currently use an Android (on Verizon, a Galaxy S2) and my laptops OS is still Windows 7. I beta tested Windows 8 and understand the "live tile" thing, but during the Beta, the "Store" wasn't up yet...

now as an Android user, i'm accustomed to apps from Google Play. similarly, iPhone users are used to their Appstore.
WHAT is available if this reviewer actually clicked the "Store" tile I saw? Any difference in apps? :)

I could afford a high end phone, especially if I really wanted it. But even though I consider myself a techie, I don't see the point of some of the extra features of the high end phones. Like the Razr HD. Bigger phone = less pocketable. It had that hdmi port, but why do I need it? I don't "see" huge differences in screen quality. The only issue is battery with the cheaper phones, but you generally have to come home and plug them up regardless. I don't see the point of spending more money.

I like the color customization on windows 8 but i think i would get tired of the simplicity

i feel like the bezel on both of those phones are too big, and too thick. I like windows phone, but a lot of the phones are not very nice looking. I know that's not the most important thing about a phone, but it is nice to have a nice looking phone

I am not a fan of big screens! 4 inches or 4.3 is fine but anything more is crazy. a phone is FOR TEXT AND CALLS. The note 2 would be fine as a iPod limitations but seriously how do people call with that

Windows is so underrated, it sucks that it JUST recently got 145, 000 apps, it should have at least 500, 000 by now, but then again, It does reduce the amount of useless apps. Also, I really think that windows phone is way above apple and on the same level as android, if not higher. Just because a shit load of teenagers and kids buy an iPhone and boost Apple's profits does not mean that its innovative and the best phone around. I've stopped friends from buying one and they later thanked me for it.

On this video, the overall winner is Lumia 822, whereas Samsung odyssey has a better display.
