My church just sang this with Ephesians 4:1-16. We love everyone who comes into our church and it truly is our biggest drawing card for new members. This song has long been a favorite as it sums up our congregation nicely.

I love this hymn, too. We can see see the Early Christian community in 1 Cor 11 coming together for their Communion service and Paul telling them not to eat if they do not discern the Body and Blood of the Lord. The Communion service existed almost 350 years before the Bible! The Bible came after the Roman persecutions around the empire had ended and Pope Damasus ordered the writing deemed to be inspired gathered up into one volume to be read to the people. This was done exclusively by the priests, deacons and bishops of whom the Pope is one It is still done today. The Holy Spirit was promised in every generation. To deny His works, but to recall The Father's in the Old Testament, and the Son, Jesus, in the New Testament, but to reject the Holy Spirit's in the years after St John's Revelation- years of sacrifice, martyrdom for many, hardship of spreading the Gospel in difficult times and places is wrong. Christianity is a trilogy. Old Testament, New Testament, and the History of Christ's Church, His Bride. May we all be one again. GBY
