Learn the Irish accent with Matt Pocock, the 3,000-lesson voice coach. The Irish accent tends to default to one sound - the 'ah'. If you can master the Irish accent's 'father', 'palm', 'lot' and 'cloth', you've got a good sense of it.

The Irish accent also requires strong R sounds and TH awareness. It's a shifty one, tending to be weak on some sounds and strong on others. Let Matt teach you the Irish accent in the VoiceHacker way - in under two minutes.

not bad given that there is no generic Irish accent. the north to south to east to west have completely different accents and what you have there is a mix of nearly everything. I'm from cork In the south of ireland.

I'm Aussie, and back on a few of the fleets my ancestors came from across great Britain.
One was a young girl escaping the potato famine.
And I've always loved Ireland and wanted to travel there, I want to learn the accent well ☺

Watching this video made me realize how some of these pronunciations are exactly the same as a Southern accent in the United States. I say "st-ahp" instead of "stop, " so does my whole family. It was a weird aha moment but it adds up with migration in the states historically too. Makes more sense why some people in France & the Netherlands thought we were Irish 😅.

Hardest accent in the world? That’s an understatement. I’ve gotten Russian, Albanian, Nigerian, Bostonian, Northern Alabama, and Norwegian down pact, Irish is tough, comes out more Scottish.

(Read this in an Irish accent)
Back in my homeland, it was my own family who discovered the hardiest breed of potatoes in all of Ireland. Through harshest winters, and dryest of summers, people sailed far and wide to learn the methods! But all those foreigners were fruitless, or, potato-less, might I say! Our land was built atop the bloodshed, running deep in the roots of the grass. Ye better believe, that no new potato was ever greater, than she.

Im a theatre student and working on a play where I need to speak in an Irish (Dublin) accent. Tutorials are helpful but challenging when stringing sentences together. I want to do right by the accent and don't offend or look foolish when performing. Can anyone who is from Ireland help me, recording lines for me that comes out of the play? Thank you for your time.
