I have been researching & learning everything I could about CV, keto, VLC & healthy eating. I have so many "favorites" that I follow - but I get so excited when I see a new video of yours & like this one, I'll watch it over a few times. I have lost the same 30-65 lbs over & over...now I know why! Thank you Dr. Cywes... you're a fabulous dr & you break carb addiction down, better than anyone! I have 20-30 lbs to lose this time & I know it'll be my last time! God bless!

Euphoric recall is so dangerous. Developing disdain is so important. Thank you, Dr. Cywes!

Wow I really needed to hear this. This is exactly what just happened to me. I was traveling and had a couple of bad days and ate carbs at the hotel restaurant and now my sugar levels are up.

Thank you Dr Cywes, it has taken me 20 years of dieting and failing including a gastric band operation to come to the same conclusion.... I am addicted to CARBS!!!! I'm now working on my emotional triggers so thanks for your helpful suggestions and advise. Keep up your good work.

I love that Dr. Cywes is so candid about the abysmally low "success" rate of gastric bypass surgeries. Even though it is his profession, and he stands to profit off of these surgeries, the fact that he is so frank about the reality of these surgeries demonstrates that this guy really has integrity.

Dear Dr.Cywes,
Here in Edmonton there has been a OA (Overeaters Anonymous) Meeting for over 10 years and we follow the AA pattern also. Thank you for your time and support. Your input has been invaluable. May God bless you.

No matter what your addiction is (alcohol, drugs, carbohydrates) you need a twelve step program, a support system and your higher power to get you through the challenging process.

After quitting smoking the addiction draw's me to  the "allowed " Low carb foods . Nuts, cheese, keto desserts  & chocolate, sugar free hard candies  etc ..  SMH The weight is climbing back on - I need all the help I can get !!  I've made it 3 + years not smoking, but the Happy feeling of quitting is being destroyed by the weight gain :(  :

Thank you SO much for those pdf downloads :) Truly helpful and appreciated. It makes so much sense to treat carbs as an addiction, especially with the myriad of afflictions associated with eating them. As of October, 2018, I have "chosen" to not eat carbs as much as possible, and, though not "obese", carried extra weight for years, and have already lost 30 lbs in 6 months, and seen my blood pressure drop to normal readings .... Hopefully will be able to get off meds. for this when I meet my Dr. in a couple months for renewal. (I live in Canada). I have obese relatives in the USA, and a sister a year older than me on dialysis (on her one remaining kidney) as of this summer. A cousin has just been diagnosed with cancer around his neck vertebrae. He carries a lot of extra weight. My heart feels so pained for these relatives, and I live so far away from them, so do not know if they are aware of LCHF and Intermittent fasting as means to better health.

I would kiss this man if I could. Him nails at when he says that a d*** people with addictions have almost non existent self esteem's. Anything to give us that it's something to be proud of something to say I did that I succeeded that is invaluable in helping us maintain control. And regained control I have struggled with my weight for the past 10 years and struggled with addiction food addiction for the past 10 years I almost 55 it started after A deployment. Sometimes we need someone to believe in us or we need to do something to make ourselves believe in us. Thanks doc

Cognitive dissonance where we drift out of the consequences of what will happen. Identifying the triggers is a big step and immersing oneself, in reality, helps a lot.

With all due respect, as someone who has been through both AA and OA, you clearly know nothing about OA. OA is exactly like AA. You list your trigger foods and abstain from them. Maybe get some pamphlets from OA or get the 12 steps work book & book of over eaters anonymous. I absolutely agree with and appreciate everything else you have said in this vlog & thank you for your time and knowledge.
