The reciprocating engraver is what I was used to, but it looks like most are rotary ones now. Don't seem as good, and basically just cut material away.

I have an old red Wen my husband had. There is a plastic screw at the end. Is that to change the “nail” that etches or for something else?

Would this work on bone? I have one of these engravers but I wasn't sure if it would work. I have a large cow shoulder bone that I wanted to carve a design into. Just wondering if it would work for that.
