I find it so interesting that from a normal human perspective it’s sharks being aggressive and scary, but when you look into it the people are going into the sharks territory, and although they don’t “deserve” to be bitten, there are levels of precaution and I guess a certain etiquette when dealing with these creatures lol. Maintain personal space, don’t agitate, and most of all don’t act like prey. Honestly these rules can apply to any large predator, and even some domestic animals like stray dogs.

"What do you get when you mimic the sound of a shark's food 57 meters underwater, when food can be hard enough to get already?

YOU GET WHAT YOU FUCKING DESERVE!"

Interesting how these attack videos aren't massive 'jaw-type' sharks. The smaller ones seem to be feisty!

I was in the Maldives, seeing 1-2 foot reef sharks cruising up and down the beach picking off meals from the clouds of tiny fish in the shallows. The locals let me know that the 'big' sharks came into the lagoon in the early morning when the tide was in.

So the next morning there I was with my snorkel and camera, taking some pictures of some coral fish, when I looked up to see a number of 6 foot reef sharks circling me and the coral block I was next to. I kept my breathing slow, movements gentle, and my back to the coral, and spent 7-8 minutes photographing them - an awesome experience. They would move in and out of view, never closer than about 20 feet away, and I was fairly certain that I was too big to be considered a meal, so just enjoyed the time with these magnificent creatures.

Eventually I needed to head back to shore, and as soon as I moved toward the edge of the ring of sharks, they darted away very fast. I'll never forget that experience!

I love this! These are all things I'm always telling people any negative shark interaction can be avoided. Great episode!
1. Keep eye contact with nearby sharks constantly. Deflect with a "stiff-arm" if necessary.
2. STAY AWAY from feeding sharks! (should be obvious for all predators tbh).
3. Don't imitate prey.
4. Seriously... lock eyes on the friggin' shark!

57 meters down on a single tank of air - those guys deserve their Darwin Award. It must feel nice being rammed by a shark while narced out of your mind, that deco was a lot of fun.

I remember my second dive I've ever done, we saw a rather large reef shark that passed right over our group. We all kind of congregated together until the shark was completely out of view. It was incredible, it was a very beautiful shark.
On another note, I'm very grateful to have found your channel! I'm an aspiring marine biologist, and while I'm more interested in working with dolphins and whales over other species, I love learning about all marine life. Sharks and rays following up dolphins. Your channel gives me extra knowledge of sharks, that I didn't pick up on in all my years of watching Shark Week. :)) Thank you lots! Looking forward to future uploads.

People seem to forget these are apex predators. They are beautiful and graceful and fascinating and CAN be peaceful but they are also capable of a lot of damage. I swam with sharks once and I'd do it again in a heartbeat but respect for these creatures is key. You're in their home and you play by their rules.

Watching these videos with the commentary is absolutely fascinating. I really love this one, and the breakdown and explanation of why these attacks happen. Just watching a couple of these set my heart racing, but at the same time it’s actually made me love sharks more and made me feel less…scared of them I guess? I have no reason to be scared since I’m landlocked, but I just love learning about them! It’s so easy to see that these encounters could have been deadly but the sharks are just as in control of themselves and the situation as any other wild animal. I love seeing videos of shark attacks that don’t demonize or sensationalize it. Thanks for sharing!
