Plex on Linux Command Guide:

In this video, I go over how to set up PLEX on a Raspberry Pi. I use Raspbien LITE in this video as seen in the previous video on how to setup a Raspberry Pi from scratch.

There isn't a whole lot to setting up Plex on a Pi, but there are a quite a few out-dated guides on how to do this, and getting an external drive (which is almost a necessity) can be a bit of a burden.

I kind of stumble through this install, so you are along for the ride. I try to do things in real-time and sometimes issues arise.

I set up Plex on a Pi 3 ages ago, then upgraded to a Pi 4 but couldn't remember how I'd done the setup. Looked at loads of tutorials before finding this and your previous guide to setting up the Pi. I followed both and it was exactly what I needed: OS installed, Plex Media Server installed and hard drive added. Job done! Thanks a lot.

Great video, I had unfortunately wasted time on other methods(with the dev2day content) but following this video I have installed the plex server on an old Pi 2, connected an external HD and now sitting down comfortably watching some of the content.
Thanks @Toasty Answers

Beautiful Vid and I loved the conciseness and easiness you made. I was able to successfully complete the preparing the RPI3 into a plex media server. The only thing is is wonder how one can fix the buffering issues when streaming the vids from the RPI3 to my big screen TV. Great news is my TV can now see the media files on the RPI3 but still having some buffering issues though. One can change the conversion so as to "play original format" and sometimes that helps.

Also entering the drive GUID into FSTAB was a wonderful idea so as long as you have the drive on, you can reboot your RPi and the drive will be immediately mounted. Very Very useful while you are setting up a server but one may hv to assign the RPi a static IP instead of DHCP just so other devices and TVs can find it.

On the whole, the vid was amazing, straight forward and easy and I Was able to setup my RP in no time.

Big Thanks! Liked and subbed!

A useful tip: for those who are getting the error the drive is already mounted, you have to use the *umount* command to unmount the drive first before you remount it to your custom made folder. That helped me quite a bit.

I got everything running but when I set up the Library in Plex, I choose the external drive but none of the videos on it are showing up. I can see the files in the Rasbian file manager itself but not in Plex, both when I set up the Library and on my dashboard

When I go to RPI-IP:32400/web/ I get the error "No soup for you!
The server you're trying to access doesn't want to let you in. Make sure you're signed in as a user with access to this server."
