I’ve been using JetBrains IDEs for years so it’s awesome that they are sponsoring the channel!

People who say VSCode can do all the stuff JetBrains IDEs can do are partially correct. The main difference is that JetBrains' features are much more polished and tightly integrated. + The intellisense on the Webstorm is far superior to that of VSCode, I've tried all sorts of extensions for VSCode but it can't match the seamlessness of Webstorm, I can't remember the last time it missed an auto import. But on the downside, it's pretty heavy and you pay a good price to use it, but they offer good free tiers.

I am a 17 year old student at a technical school in Hungary and got the Ultimate plan for free. These IDEs are really good and have been actually improving my productivity a lot.

just saying, VS code and neovim have the same features, they just require a couple more minutes of configurations

I know this video is sponsored, but since 2017 I am not able to use any other IDE. Using rider for c#, js, typescript. Pycharm free edition for Python. Once you try - you won't be able to use anything else. The only issue, last update made it extremely laggy on apple m chips.

only downside is that you need to download a bunch of different individual apps just for each language

Also, while not obvious, you can use any jetbrains ide for free if you use the EAP version (early access program). There are some disadvantages, such as not being stabile and plugin incompatibility but it's worth it.

Same could be said about VSCode and it's free. Don't fall for this. I have different profiles for different programming languages on vscode and it's all synced.

For JS/TS web development VS Code and Web Storm offers almost the same experience, but for any other language like PHP or Python the experience with JetBrains IDEs products is far superior

I think my one of my only reasons why i like jetbrains so much, is that it handles syntax very well. It scans the libraries that i want to use, to give me good intellisense suggestions, without using extensions. I dont know a lot about vs code, but i have a feeling that it can't find references (for example) without using a extension that adds better syntax or intellisense. Also it shows me directly in the code, of what type my objects, Variables are

I've used jetbrain's ides before for both python and javascript. These IDEs feel great to use and have so many handy tools. However, one thing I could never get past is all the memory would get eaten up while the IDEs were running. Then once said IDEs would reach their assigned memory limits things would get sluggish quick. This was such a big deal breaker I moved right back to using vscode

My problem with jetbrains is that there is no other opponent competing with them except the open source ones which considered general purpose extensible text editors.

I've used everything from sublime, atom, vim, neovim, vscode, notepad++, eclipse and jetbrains. All I can say about jetbrains is that about every 20mins it stops for about 30mins to index my files. During this time the IDE features do not work. I have never had this problem in any other editor.
