Scary moments from Taiwan Airport, flights struggle to touch down, take down amid Typhoon Kong-rey

An aircraft was forced to undertake a touch-and-go maneuver at Taoyuan International Airport after failing to land owing to heavy winds late Thursday afternoon (October 31).
The Starlux aircraft from Okinawa to Taipei, JX871, circled around and landed safely on its second try.
Kong-rey made landfall on Taiwan's east coast on Thursday, the worst typhoon to batter the island in over 30 years, suspending financial markets, canceling hundreds of flights, and limiting train operations.
According to Taiwan's Central Weather Administration, the storm slammed the hilly and thinly populated east coast county of Taitung, causing high gusts and copious rains across the island.
