Iran’s supreme leader has presided over a funeral for the country’s late president, Ebrahim Raisi.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei led prayers at Tehran University, where caskets carrying Mr Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six others who died in a helicopter crash on Sunday, were draped in Iranian flags.

Iran’s acting president, Mohammad Mokhber, stood nearby and openly wept during the service, while top leaders of Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard were also in attendance.

Authorities had warned against demonstrations against the funeral procession, and some residents in Tehran reportedly received texts urging them to attend Wednesday's ceremonies.

I've never seen the president of Iran in a better position.

Today, about 5 million people were present in Tehran. At the same time, thousands of people came to the streets in other cities. It is stunning

To think, the over 40 year old helicopter was 1 month from retirement.

Iranians sent text messages to attend? If people felt anything for the butcher, they do not need to receive text massages to attend. Wonder what happens to those who ignored the message.

Simple fact the average Iranian is not in mourning celebrating in silence that the Butcher is dead only the hardliners are in mourning.

This changes nothing. Khamenei is the real power. Raisi was an expendable middleman, save with Rouhani, Ahmadinejad, etc.

Congratulations to all suffered mothers of the 60s.❤❤❤
This is the mother nature revenge for all your losses, although it is so far to be called fair enough.
