I am totally disagree with this guy, coz 99% tech companies ask you about algorithms and DS and through java you will have great understanding and secondly if you know java and DS you will pick up other languages in matter of weeks, so focus on problem solving rather than different languages

Agree with what you are saying but from a job search perspective Java is still the go to backend language to learn. It is still dominant everywhere, AWS for example launches pretty much all new services in Java and Amazon is 80% Java code.Go/Rust etc are all great as well but do not have the ecosystem/trackrecord of Java to match, so it just depends on your use case. Most systems are not built using the latest language features anyway, as Java keeps updating its not that difficult to catch up. Streams and lambdas in Java make things a lot easier, and the good thing is that these new functional features are backwards compatible so play nicer with older Java code.

Agreed that javascript/python are easier to pick up for beginners and nothing wrong with picking those languages instead.

Languages for the JVM Kotlin is amazing. Writing the whole: System.out.println(); had me dizzy not mentioning the whole main method plus the class system. On top of this I heard to start a Java project can be a painful experience if you don’t know what you are doing. Did some research and this is what I was told.

Seems to me like people these days overestimate the amount of of applications that Java is used it, as opposed to what the language allows you to do. It's mainly a backend and IoT language these days, and isn't generally used to make games, AI, or web components. However, even with its limited real-world applications, it's still by far one of the most widely used in the IT industry because it does its job so well.

Java always has it up and downs. It's always felt like an risky language to invest but rewarding. Same stories with Javascript. It's scary when developers laugh at a language and thinks nothing going to happen meanwhile it's popular.

I see Java when I go to the gym bc it's in modern exercise machines or maybe that is kotlin. Idk I see Android when I use the machine
