I'm 45 years old and it took this long for someone who is in their early twenties to explain these constellations, how they work, and how I can find my way with them in a way I could comprehend. I also got to learn how to identify Betelgeuse, Rigel and Sirius, which I am guessing is also called the dog star. All of a sudden so many things make sense and are clear...

You'd be a wonderful teacher, Alfie.

I live in the Southern Hemisphere and Orion is the first constellation we see, I love going to bed with Orion in our night skies, it disappears during the winter months because it comes in early hours of the morning from 1am-3am.

Pretty much my favorite constellation in the sky. Also contains one of the most beautiful deep sky objects out there!

I live in Australia, I was told by an ex-army driver that the arrow of Orion always points to north, I haven't tested it much but it usually does point to north every time I have observed it

The sword points to the south. There, easy peasy. Or if you want Orion’s Swordpoints towards the equator so when in the north it points south when in the Southern Hemisphere it points north

I'm watching this 6 years after it was posted, and cracking up. And Orion was definitely THE constellation to see when I was a kid, a LONG time ago.
