Plastic Surgeon Explains Aging in Menopausal Women!

As women approach their 40s and 50s, the perimenopausal and menopausal ages, they oftentimes begin to experience the sudden and rapid effects of aging. This is caused by the dramatic shift in a woman's estrogen hormone levels as she begins to enter menopause. During the mid 20s, estrogen levels are at their highest, but they begin to slowly decrease until perimenopause, when the decrease becomes more extreme and rapid. As Dr. Karam has explained before, collagen production is vital to maintaining a youthful appearance, and estrogen is a major stimulant for collagen. With that in mind, it makes sense that as estrogen levels decrease, collagen production decreases, resulting in the sudden effects of aging. How can you take action against perimenopausal and menopausal aging? Obviously, using sun protection and using skincare with quality, active ingredients is always a must, but there are other treatments you can take advantage of as well, including in-office collagen stimulating treatments. As always, though, consistency is key to the best results.

Nothing could be more truthful! I felt like I looked youthful for so long and then just in one day postmenopausal I couldn't believe the rapid decline in my facial appearance

I turned 46 and within a few months, my face changed so drastically overnight. I dont even recognize myself. I hate my face. I use to be attractive. Its actually pretty devastating because it happens so fast.

I looked pretty good at 50. I'm 59 now and not looking so good. I'm healthy and try not to dwell on the superficial things.

It would be nice if all people with an aged face and neck, would be able to afford to come to Dr. Karam for the surgery. You're the best Dr. Karam!💯

I am 61, people think im 15 years younger, I think its probably down to good genetics, but I also take HRT which has obviously helped with supporting collagen. I know not everyone can have hormone replacement, but its the best thing that I've done. Im active and I don't eat too much rubbish. You can't abuse yourself and still expect to look good tho can you 🤷‍♀️

I’m in peri menopause but grateful to have dark skin to slow the aging process. So while my insides might feel like crap, at least my outside gets mistaken for being way younger. Of course I take very good care of my skin with a religious skincare regimen and take my vitamins and supplements, like collagen, daily. I gotta take those wins where I can find them!

Eat lots of fresh veggies and fruits. Don't drink alcohol, eat crap or do drugs. Sugar kills. Stay thin. Move your body everyday. Menopause is our time ladies to be free and have fun! Stay healthy and you will be forever young inside and out! And why does he not talk about men and how bad they look as they age?

I wouldn't call aging "devastating". That is a tad dramatic. It is inevitable & people need to accept that it is perfectly normal to look your age.

I watch my face change rapidly in the two years before I went into menopause. It’s very difficult psychologically. I’ve just started HRT so I’m hopeful but will also be getting a few things done cosmetically.

I was on HRT for 6 years for annoying hot flashes but then developed a fibroid and polyp, which were removed. My doctor said it was time to wean off the HRT. I did, that was 7 years ago. I’m 64, and thankfully, I’ve always looked a lot younger. I started Tretinoin in my mid 40s, and I think genetic bone structure has worked well for me. However, I still wonder about HRT and any benefits I could gain…

Dr Karam. I want to have a vertical restore operation. I want upper & lower blepharoplasty along with midface rejuvenation. Basically I want to restore or rejuvenate the periorbital area. Howe rever I have porex implants in the cheeks that are screwed to the bone. They are 20 yrs old. Is it still possible to have these procedures?

Or nutrition! Which, of course, he doesn't mention. Straight to medical procedures and products.
