Protection for the crew !? A Bomber crew had TERRIBLE casualties. If you finished 25 missions you got to go home . Check out the Ploesti raids ! Terrible casualties . The pow camps for fliers were huge and many, most airmen counted the missions off

My great Uncle was a Luftwaffe fw 190 pilot who flew against these bombers.
