Fair winds and following seas to our sailors, proudly served onboard USS EISENHOWER, CVN-69 as a Radioman and currently retired.
Thanks to all our military personnel. Bravo Zulu, carry on and job well done. Stay safe.

if youre thinking about going down this path TAKE A THOROUGH EYE EXAM BEFORE YOU EVEN TALK TO A RECRUITER. I was accepted for a Student Naval Flight Officer slot and got one month into training at OCS and was told I could not fly due to an eye condition they found called Keratoconus. Go to an optometrist before you even apply because the eye exams they do at MEPS do not catch these type of conditions.

This video was NOT a “day in the life” of a USN pilot on board a carrier.

It’s amazing the amount of training that they go through. First the basic physical training and then the more advanced training to learn how to operate an aircraft using a very advanced flight simulator and eventually to actually operating an aircraft in real life.

Loved the video, however there was more about training prior to being on a flight deck rather than being "A day in the Life of US Navy Pilots on a $13 Billion Aircraft Carrier". I would still like to see the video of "A day in the Life"

It amazes me me how all this training can be given to a pilot while he is still young enough to fly! When will the time come when just too much training is necessary to pilot ever more advanced aircraft? Will drones become the standard battlefield aircraft?

I’ll give you a run down from my float on the Roosevelt. Pilots would have a nice state room, eat quality food in the officers mess, have enlisted pick up, do their laundry, fold it and bring it back. They’d have tons of popcorn and coffee in the ready room. Hit the gym, do some flight ops, stand duty. Get off the ship first, every port call and get first dibs on every hotel thanks to MWR’s system.

It’s an informative and well made video, however, it’s by no means a day in the life of navy aviator on an aircraft carrier, rather it’s about how a navy pilot is selected and trained to become an officer pilot.

As a student naval aviator, this video is truly all over the place. Not really a day in the life of a Naval Aviator lol.

Haha they mixed up the footage quite a bit. When they talked about ocs they were showing footage from the academy. When they talked about the academy they showed footage from ocs. I went to ocs in 2021.
