The Beatles 'A DAY IN THE LIFE' Ultimate Remix: Sgt. Pepper’s 1967 Vocals With 2017 Instrumentation
Показать описание
This remix of the iconic track from The Beatles' 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band combines elements from three excellent pre-released versions. The goal was to create a more dynamic version that showcases the best of each. The vocals come from George Martin's original 1967 mix, where they journeyed adventurously across the stereo stage. Giles Martin (George Martin's son) removed this effect entirely in his 2017 remix but enhanced the sound quality and fidelity of the instrumentation by using near first-generation multi-track sources. For my remix, I used Giles' version for the instrumentation, while positioning each instrument on the stereo stage as close as possible to their original 1967 placements.
John's unconventional "Sugar Plum Fairy" count-in was extracted from the Love version, and I also incorporated the nonsensical chatter from the 1967 run-out groove into my remix. These edits were carefully made with attention to their original positions and timing from their respective sources.
For me, part of the charm of the 1967 version lies in the vocal movements, which make for an exciting listen, especially with headphones—something I highly recommend when hearing my remix. I’m very pleased with the final result and feel I’ve achieved a more complete version of this classic song.
Many thanks for listening!
